The new on-screen Cable TV guide is here!
This online users manual is designed to acquaint you with the operation of your new cable system. Even if you are not new to cable, you may find operating your new GEUS system somewhat different from the procedures you are used to. Take a moment to look over the remote control supplied with your cable box. You may want to print out this diagram (or find the diagram on page 11 of the Motorola DCT 2000 User Guide supplied with the cable box).
Remember:
Note: The cable remote is supplied with 2 AA (1.5 volt) alkaline batteries. The battery compartment is on the back of the remote. If your remote stops working, you may need to replace the batteries. Your GEUS-supplied Universal Remote Control can control up to four devices, including GEUS Cable Converters, most TVs and VCRs, and auxiliary components. The codes for your components were entered at setup. If you purchase a new TV or VCR or add additional equipment, you will need to reprogram your remote control. The cable box must be turned on to receive the digital channels (above channel 75). An indicator light to the right of the time display shows you the box is on. (It's recommended that you leave the cable box turned on all the time.) You will then use the cable box to change channels. You'll need to set your TV on Channel 3 and leave it set to Channel 3 at all times.
Note: Remember, if you can't operate the digital channels (above Channel 75), the cable box is not turned on. Check to see if the indicator on the box is illuminated. If not, press the CABLE button (#1) then the POWER button (#1) to turn on the box.
This leaves the cable box turned on, ready for your next viewing session. Use the VOLUME button (#9) to adjust the sound.
When you adjust the volume, a volume scale appears on the TV screen. Pressing the MUTE button (#15) turns the sound off. The word "MUTE" will appear on your screen. Note: If the indicator shows the volume is as loud as it will go and you are not getting enough sound, you may have to adjust the volume control on your TV.
To change channels:
When you change the channel, a dialog box appears that describes the current program on that channel. Click the INFO button (#17) to bring up more information about that program, if it's available. You can access the information
dialog box at any time while you are watching a program by pressing the
INFO button. Press INFO again for additional information, if it's available.
While the dialog box is displayed, you can get information about the programming
on other channels by using the After a few seconds, the information box will disappear. Press EXIT (#5) at any time to remove the box.
If the remote doesn't work: The cable remote is supplied with 2 AA (1.5 volt) alkaline batteries. The battery compartment is on the back of the remote. If your remote stops working, you may need to replace the batteries.
If you can't access all of the channels: You have probably hit the BYPASS button (#12) by mistake.
If a video you recorded has no sound or the sound is too low: The volume on the cable box wasn't set high enough when the recording was made. Turn up the volume on the cable box before recording. (Unfortunately, there is no way to restore the sound on a video you have already recorded.) If you still have a problem: Please call (903) 457-2800 during office hours, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday - Friday to ask for assistance.
If you purchase a new TV or VCR or add additional equipment, you will need to reprogram your remote control.
